First off, lemme just say, I totally get the B&BW hype. You walk in, BAM! Scent overload. It’s like a glitter bomb of fragrance exploded in your face. And they have *everything*. Candles, hand sanitizers (remember those days?!), room sprays, body washes… you can basically live in a cloud of whatever sugary concoction you’re digging at the moment.
But here’s the thing, and I’m just gonna be brutally honest: sometimes, it’s a bit… much. Like, the sweetness can be REALLY intense. I saw someone mention “Sweetest Song” Raspberry or something, and yeah, I bet that’s like, *screaming* raspberry. Not a subtle, sophisticated raspberry, but the kind that’s been marinating in high fructose corn syrup. No shade if that’s your jam, but I prefer something a *little* more grown-up, ya know?
Then there’s the whole “dupe” situation. People are always trying to find B&BW scents that are “just like” fancy perfumes. I saw someone trying to equate Gingham Fresh to Acqua Di Gioia, which… hmm. I can *kinda* see it? Maybe? But honestly, Acqua Di Gioia is way more complex and, dare I say, classy. Gingham Fresh is, well, fresh. But a more… basic fresh, if that makes sense? It’s the difference between a sparkling mineral water and a sugary lemonade. Both refreshing, but totally different vibes.
And the *names*! Oh lord, the names. “Guilty As Fig”? Really? I mean, I get it, marketing and all that jazz, but sometimes I just wanna know what something smells like without having to decode some weird, punny phrase. Just tell me if it smells like figs, okay?
Speaking of figs, though, I actually kinda like the fig scents. They tend to be a little less cloying and more… earthy? Maybe I’m just projecting. I dunno.
I saw something about Hugo Boss deep ocean body wash and honestly, I’m kinda intrigued. I’ve usually preferred the men’s fragrances!
And compared to Yankee Candle? That’s a whole other can of worms. Yankee is more… traditional? Less flashy? I dunno, maybe it’s an age thing. I feel like Yankee Candle is what my grandma would use, and B&BW is what my (younger) cousin would use.
