So, how do you, like, *not* get ripped off? It’s a real struggle, lemme tell ya. I saw this influencer, right? And she was hyping up these YSL lipstick colors, said they were *amazing*. But the boxes were, like, totally different colors than the actual lipstick inside! What’s up with that?! Makes you wonder, doesn’t it? Are they even real?!
One thing I’ve heard is to really scrutinize the packaging. Apparently, real YSL lipstick boxes are supposed to be made of this super high-quality, sturdy material. Nice and glossy. If it feels flimsy or cheap, that’s a HUGE red flag, ya know? Think like…cardboard vs. something a little more premium.
And then there’s the actual lipstick tube itself. Apparently the YSL logo is a big tell. The real deal is, like, really intricate and hard to copy. Font size, spacing, all that jazz has to be perfect. If something looks even slightly off, it’s probably a fake. I mean, they even get the font wrong on YSL bags, so you know they’re cutting corners on the lipsticks too.
Another thing that gets me is the fact that even Sephora might not be completely safe! I saw someone say they bought a lipstick from Sephora online and another from a YSL store, and the packaging was different! Like, WHAT?! Makes you wonder how much quality control even exists anymore. Maybe YSL changed packaging or something? I don’t know. It’s all so confusing!
Honestly, I think the best way to avoid fakes is to buy directly from YSL, or a super reputable retailer that you REALLY trust. Yeah, it might be a bit more expensive, but is it worth risking putting some random, potentially toxic goop on your lips just to save a few bucks? I think not!
